Is video chat roulette safe?
Safe enough to enjoy, not safe enough to switch your judgment off. You are talking to people you know nothing about, and most of them are exactly what they look like: someone with a free evening and a camera. A small number are not, and the habits below exist for them.
No service can promise that every person on it behaves. What a service can do is make it easy to leave, easy to report and hard for the same person to reach you again. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the one to judge any site by.
What we do
- One-tap exits. Next and End are always on screen. You never have to explain yourself.
- Report on every call. If somebody breaks the community rules, you can report them from the call itself.
- Block. Someone you block does not come back to you.
- Adults only. The service is for adults, and our terms of service say so.
- Clear rules. Harassment, threats, sexual pressure, scams and sharing other people's details are all against the rules.
What you can do

- Keep personal details private. Full name, address, workplace, school and phone number stay with you.
- Mind your background. Letters, certificates, street signs and window views give away a lot.
- Don't send money or gift cards. Not for emergencies, not for "verification", not for anything.
- Skip links. A stranger's link doesn't belong in a first conversation.
- Don't move to other apps too fast. If you want to stay in touch, take your time.
- Trust the feeling. If a call feels wrong, end it. You owe nobody a reason.
They are also what keeps you anonymous on a video call, and they apply with or without an account.
Red flags worth leaving a call for
- Asks for money, crypto, gift cards or "a small favour" early.
- Pushes you to switch to another app, or to click a link.
- Gets personal very quickly: your address, your school, your schedule.
- Pressures you to do something on camera you're not comfortable with.
- Threatens you, or says they have recorded or will share anything.
End the call, block the person and report them. If you believe you are in danger, contact your local emergency number. Don't pay anyone who threatens you, because payment rarely ends the problem.
How to report and block
- End the callTap the red button or Next. Your safety comes before politeness.
- ReportUse the report option for that call and choose the closest reason.
- BlockBlock the person so they cannot reach you again.
- Tell us moreIf you want to add detail or ask about a case, write to us from the contact page.
Safer on a phone
On a phone, silence notifications during calls, don't let the browser save passwords on a shared device, and switch the camera permission off in the site settings when you finish. Set-up tips for light, sound and background take two minutes.
